Members of the Clarendon County Pilot Club Kathy Geddings, Pat DuBose, Camille Daniel, Margaret Robertson, Donna Thames and Peggy Benton represented their club at the group’s District Fall Council Meeting in Richburg in late 2019.
The Clarendon County Pilot Club actively works throughout the community all year long encouraging brain safety, which is the primary focus of the organization.
“We stress the importance of wearing helmets, gun safety and buckling up through puppet shows and classroom presentations,” said Margaret Robertson, a founding member of the organization. “It’s important to urge children and adults to protect their brains.”
Robertson said the group uses hand puppets to get its safety points across to students.
The Clarendon County Pilot Club was founded more than a decade ago by Robertson’s sister, the late Dottie McFaddin, to promote Alzheimer’s awareness.
The local organization holds an annual walk and other fundraisers to raise money for their various projects as well as several scholarships that they give area students.
