June 24, 2016 By Claire Wells

“On April 14, it was my honor to be able to meet and share Pilot with Governor Taizo Mikazuki of the Shiga Prefecture. I was accompanied by Mieko Izuma, PC Biwako, District Convention Chair, Governor Hiyama and Kiku Kubo. Governor Mikazuki thanked the Japan Pilots for their service throughout their communities,” said the Pilot President, a member of the Pilot Club of Greensboro, North Carolina since 2003.

“On May 13, it was my honor and privilege to be presented, with other Pilots, to Her Excellency, Dame Marguerite Matilda Pindling, who is an Honorary Pilot. She had high praise for the Pilots of The Bahamas she had worked with in the past,” said the Pilot President Elect, a member of the Pilot Club of Moline since 2005.

Connie explains that Her Excellency, Governor-General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas is the vice-regal representative of the Bahamian monarch, currently Queen Elizabeth II of England. Because the queen is unable to reside in all realms under British rule, she appoints Governor General representatives to carry out her duties as Queen of the Bahamas. These distinguished individuals serve terms as long as is “Her Majesty’s pleasure,” but usually for no more than five years.
