Daughter To Honor Alzheimer's Fight

September 20, 2024

Lois Couch grew up in Oakman, Georgia- not far from Pilot International Headquarters in Macon, Georgia. At just 16 years old she graduated from high school and started working in Atlanta, where fate would step in. Here she worked for the Home Insurance Company and served in the Naval Reserve. One weekend a month she would work at the Naval Air Station. Lois met the love of her life, Rex Goodnight Couch, on a blind date at an Air Force Squadron party. They would marry in Atlanta and move to Baytown, Texas in 1954 and spend the rest of their lives together in Texas.

Speaking with her daughter, Pam, we learned how important her faith was to her- and that she was a steadfast Christian. She was also fiercely independent and continued to work in the insurance industry for some forty years.

It’s for these reasons, and many more, that Pam and her husband, Chris, Warford continue to support the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association in Baytown. “Her independence was so important to her,” Pam said.

In supporting the mission for the Alzheimer’s Association, the Warford’s are able to honor Lois and her desire to be independent by funding research for a cure so that other women like Lois can remain independent for as long as they desire.

We wish to thank the Warford’s for their many years as repeat platinum donors for the Baytown Walk to End Alzheimer’s. You can join them in supporting us by finding a team to support at this link here: Alzheimer's Association Pilot International Teams link.
